    Phrasal verbs (separáveis ou não)

    A regra

    Nos separáveis (turn off, pick up), o objeto pode ir no meio; se for pronome (it, them), tem de ir. Nos inseparáveis (look after, run into), o objeto vai sempre depois.

    Como se forma

    • verb + object + particle

      Can you turn the music down?

      Você pode abaixar a música?

    • verb + it/them + particle

      Your shoes are dirty. Take them off.

      Seus sapatos estão sujos. Tire-os.

    • inseparable: verb + particle + object

      Who looks after your dog?

      Quem cuida do seu cachorro?

    • three parts: verb + particle + preposition

      I can't put up with this noise.

      Não aguento esse barulho.

    Erros comuns

    • Turn off it.

      Turn it off.

      Com pronome (it), ele vai no meio: turn it off.

    • I'm looking my keys for.

      I'm looking for my keys.

      Look for é inseparável: o objeto vai depois.
