Present Continuous (Present Progressive)

Usado para ações que estão acontecendo agora, neste momento, ou para situações temporárias.

Formação: Subject + am/is/are + verb-ing

• I am studying English right now.
• She is working from home today.
• They are playing soccer.

Regras do -ing

• Maioria: + ing → playing, reading, eating
• Terminados em -e: remove -e + ing → making, writing, living
• CVC (consoante-vogal-consoante, monossílabo): dobra última + ing → running, swimming, sitting
• Terminados em -ie: troca por ying → dying, lying, tying

Negativa e Interrogativa

• I am not watching TV.
• She isn't sleeping.
• Are you listening?

Quando usar

1. Agora: I'm reading a book.
2. Temporário: She's living in London this year.
3. Planos futuros: We're meeting at 8 tonight.
4. Tendências: More people are working remotely.

Stative Verbs (verbos que NÃO usam -ing)

Alguns verbos expressam estados e normalmente não são usados no continuous:

• Sentidos: know, believe, understand, remember, forget
• Emoções: love, hate, like, want, need, prefer
• Posse: have (= possuir), own, belong
• Outros: seem, mean, cost, contain

❌ I am knowing the answer. → ✅ I know the answer.
